With allergies are on the rise and the doctors still scratching their heads, the infant feeding guidelines have relaxed and they now encourage you to introduce a wide range variety, and in no particular order. Of course you can still chose to do the one food at a time to approach, but they now say It is now recommended that once solids are introduced, a variety of foods should be given and the type and order do not matter. Research suggests that introducing the most allergenic foods (as mentioned above) by about 10–12 months of age is associated with a reduced the risk of allergy developing in babies.
So, it is good time to combine flavours right from the word go and hey please don’t be afraid of allergens such as nuts and eggs after about 8 to 9 months.
Textures can be altered to suit your baby but in the early days I still recommend nice soft smooth purees. If you are still opting for Baby-Led weaning, then by all means give them something to suck on and play with ok but I still recommend a few little spoonful’s to really help them get the gist of chewing and swallowing.
The Best Baby Food Combinations to try:

Yum Chicken and Corn Puree
This is reminiscent of a Chinese chicken and corn soup and great for exposing your cute baby to the awesome world of food!

1 carrot peeled and nicely chopped
1 stick celery, string bits removed and nice roughly chopped
1 spring onion nicely roughly chopped
1 cup of salt reduced chicken stock

½ cup corn kernels
1 tsp light soy sauce
2 drops sesame oil (optional)

Puree to desired consistency using a clean stick blender or similar. Stir into soy sauce and add 2 drops sesame oil if using.
Celeriac and Parsnip Winter Puree
Think about expensive restaurant with amazing piece of steak and a buttery creamy mash with just all around. It’s a step above with your average mash which typically I find that lots of babies don’t like mashed potato and is delicious for young and old.
Ingredients
1 whole Celeriac root
1 – 2 Parsnips
1 cup full fat milk
1 clove garlic
20g unsalted butter
Prepare Vegetables. Cut the ends off Celeriac right down to the bulb and peel. Use a clean good sharp knife not a peeler ok as they tend to be quite knobbly and you want to get below all the stringy bits. Roughly nicely dice. Peel and trim ends and dice Parnsip.
Method
Place into a clean saucepan with milk and peeled garlic clove and then add water, enough to just cover the veggies and place on stove top. Bring to the boil, cover with clean lid and reduce heat to simmer for 40 to 45 mins or until very nicely tender.
Strain off the liquid and then add butter and puree really well.
Apple Pear and Strawberry yum
This combo is like heaven and reminds me of my toffee apples. Super simple awesome and super super delicious, your baby will definitely love it on its own, mixed with yogurt or used as a base for frozen fruit pops.
2 clean fresh apples, peeled and steamed
1 clean fresh pear, peeled and steamed
2 clean strawberries, hulled
Blended together all the above and makes a very delicious fruity treat for your baby. I find it a little irresistible myself!
Dried fruit compote
This is a great way of introducing dried fruits to your cute baby and is great mixed into porridge or served with natural Greek yogurt.
100g clean dried fruits (dried fruit medleys are perfect, just make sure you remove pips from the prunes)
200ml of water
Process to make
Place in a small clean saucepan and cover with water. Simmer for 15 minutes until fruit pieces plump and nicely soft. Puree adding extra water if required.
